Telos Strength & Conditioning
Our team of fitness and nutrition professionals are invested in your health. We make every decision with our members’ well-being in mind. Achieve your goals with us!
Shaun and Karen Hazelton
Shaun and Karen Hazelton opened Telos Strength & Conditioning in 2017. They wanted their company name to reflect their purpose and passion and to honor the journey that led them there. The word “telos” is Greek for “end,” “purpose,” or “goal.” It is defined as an “ultimate object or aim, the end of a goal-oriented process.” This perfectly describes what drives both us and our clients. We determine what our clients want to achieve, set tangible process goals with them, and help them train each day with intention. Telos is also significant to us because it was the name of Shaun’s late father’s boat. His dad was his role model, instilling in Shaun a strong work ethic, dedication, and love of coaching. Shaun spent countless hours in the weight room with his dad, where he learned how to lift and realized the connection between effort and success. Today, Shaun’s passion is being a strength coach: working with people to help them reach their goals, whether that means improving their personal fitness or pursuing athletic dreams. We are grateful to have the opportunity to honor Shaun’s father in this way. Our coaches lead by example, working to provide a strong community and the highest level of training. We help people achieve a healthier, active life. That responsibility means introducing our members to different types of workouts, helping them feel comfortable in any environment, and giving them attributes they can display with pride. Above all, we believe in ourselves and our members!

MORE ABOUT SHAUN
Playing sports and learning how to compete as a team have always been an important part of Shaun’s upbringing. In high school, he began spending time in the weight room with his father, where he learned that sound lifting technique and progressions were crucial in creating a strong, well-balanced athlete. After high school, Shaun went on to play college football at Western State Colorado University, where he earned degrees in exercise science and psychology. Looking for another way to compete after football, Shaun discovered CrossFit in 2010. He earned his way to CrossFit regionals as an individual every year from 2011 to 2015. He has finished in the top 12 three times. This competitive experience has given Shaun a unique perspective as he passes on the lessons he’s learned to his clients and helps them reach their fitness goals. His passion is being a strength coach. He understands how to help members get results, decrease injury, and achieve their very best.

MORE ABOUT KAREN
Karen’s sports background is in tennis, and through hard work and dedication she earned a Division One tennis scholarship to the University of Northern Colorado. An important component of her training was developing strength in the weight room. Being physically strong and having a good foundation of metabolic conditioning was essential to playing her best on the court. After earning a degree in mathematics, she moved back to her hometown of Tucson and became a high school math teacher. Karen loved her work as a teacher, but after taking time out of the classroom to raise her two young kids, she realized how much she missed coaching and working with athletes. That led her to obtain her training and nutrition certifications. She loves to see members use fitness and nutrition to become stronger, happier, and healthier versions of themselves.
