Introducing the Telos Strength & Conditioning Team
Meet the fitness experts ready to help you achieve your fitness goals and your potential.
The word “telos” is Greek for “end,” “purpose,” or “goal.” It is defined as an “ultimate object or aim, the end of a goal-oriented process.” This is what drives us.
Telos is also significant to us because it was the name of Shaun’s late father’s boat. Shaun’s dad was his role model, instilling a strong work ethic, dedication, and love of coaching. Shaun spent countless hours in the weight room with his dad, where he learned how to lift and realized the connection between effort and success.
Today, our passion is working with people to help them reach their goals, whether that means improving their personal fitness or pursuing athletic dreams. Our team of coaches leads by example to continue learning and improving so they can help people achieve a healthier, active life. This is a responsibility we do not take lightly.
We are grateful to have the opportunity to honor Shaun’s father in this way. From the moment we decided to name our gym after something so important, we made the promise to each day put everything we had into creating the best possible gym and community around. We will keep working hard to provide the highest level of coaching, programming, and care for our members.
Our Professional Coaches
Playing sports and learning how to compete as a team have always been an important part of Shaun's upbringing. In high school, he began spending time in the weight room with his father, where he learned that sound lifting technique and progressions were crucial in creating a strong, well-balanced athlete. After high school, Shaun went on to play college football at Western State Colorado University, where he earned degrees in exercise science and psychology.
Looking for another way to compete after football, Shaun discovered CrossFit in 2010. He enjoyed the work that went into learning and progressing the variety of movements through the training. He earned his way to CrossFit regionals as an individual every year from 2011-2015. He has finished in the top 12 three times. This competitive experience has given Shaun a unique perspective as he passes on the lessons he’s learned to his clients and helps them reach their fitness goals. His passion is being a strength coach. He understands how to help members get results, decrease injury, and achieve their very best.
Karen's sports background is in tennis, and through hard work and dedication she earned a Division One tennis scholarship to University of Northern Colorado. An important component of her training was developing strength in the weight room. Being physically strong and having a good foundation of metabolic conditioning was essential to playing her best on the court. After earning a degree in mathematics, she moved back to her hometown of Tucson and became a high school math teacher.
Karen loved her work as a teacher, but after taking time out of the classroom to raise her two young kids, she realized how she missed coaching and working with athletes. That led her to obtain her training and nutrition certifications. She loves to see members use fitness and nutrition to become stronger, happier, and healthier versions of themselves.
